The Maine Irish Heritage Center is a non-profit organization that depends on our dedicated volunteers. We rely on your generous gift of time to maintain the historic building entrusted to us, to produce programs and exhibits, and to demonstrate the hospitality that is the hallmark of the Irish.
Come to an event or a tour. Learn about all the different things we do, and tell us about what you love to do. Volunteer shifts include everything from ticket-taking and greeting guests at events to archival work and research. We're always on the lookout for groundskeepers, library workers, genealogy buffs, office help and more!

LIBRARY VOLUNTEERS
Libraries are fascinating places, and ours is no exception! We have a range of jobs for volunteers from large, multi-day tasks to short jobs and those done in pieces. As we complete tasks, we will remove them from the portal and add new tasks. Keep checking back if you don’t find something that suits you at this time. We’d love to have you work at the Library with us!
VOLUNTEER GENEALOGISTS
The Maine Irish Heritage Center has vast resources for tracing family histories. Help visitors use our specialized databases and physical resources for their self-guided research (Thursdays), respond to citizenship inquiries (Remote), and apprentice with our genealogists to help with consults (Fridays). It's a very active department and we have a lot of fun. Join us!
GENERAL VOLUNTEERS
As a volunteer, you'll be able to help in as many ways as you want. We have regular weekly jobs, project-based opportunities, and one time events. We also have occasional work for photographers, press and media specialists, and people who enjoy building work - interior painting, carpentry, electrical work and more. Come once in a while or as often as you like - we'll always be glad to see you!
